A few weeks ago, I went to a Cubs day game with my friend Tim, a huge Cubs fan. We both work from home, so this was a nice break from the everyday. The Arizona Diamondbacks were in town, it was "Starlin Castro Bobblehead Day," the sun was out (but it was cold), so why not?

This game took place shortly after the season started, thus Wrigley Field was still dolled up with all the promotional garb used to kick off the Cubs latest battle into anticipated futility.

Reported attendance was 27,039, but as you can see from these photos, it was far below that. Just the day or so before, there were quite a few stories in the media about poorly attended Cubs games, which is a rare occurrence in Chicago.

Of interest at the game was seeing the freshly painted "United Airlines" roof behind the Toyota sign.

This sign sported the new (and amazingly ugly) United Airlines logo that was implemented after the "merger" with Continental. It's still horrid.

The game itself was pretty good. The Cubs took an early lead, but then let the D-Backs back into it. It wasn't until the end where they finally pulled it out by the score of 6-5.

Baseball isn't my favorite sport, nor do I follow it very closely, but it's always nice to go to a game with someone who actually can explain what's going on. That makes the overall experience so much better, so I was thankful for Tim's explainations. It's a role that Amy & I often find ourselves in when we attend Arena Football games and sit next to first-timers.

When I got back from the game, I quickly took a photo of the bobblehead by the infamous "BevReview Tree" and posted it up on eBay. It sold within a few days and covered the cost of my game ticket. Sweet!
