A few weeks before my birthday, Amy asked me, "do you want to do anything special?"

I'm usually pretty low-key when it comes to this type of thing, but after thinking about it for a little bit, presented this crazy idea: "I think it would be fun to get some folks together and watch the Back to the Future trilogy back-to-back-to-back!"

Amazingly, Amy pulled it off.

I'm a huge fan of the Back to the Future films, and this idea for a trilogy showing actually had roots in an event I attended 21 years ago.

My friend Chris & I sat through a triple-feature of the films when Back to the Future Part III debuted in May 1990.  I bailed out of my high school day early to make it happen and I still have the commemorative button they provided us at the showing!

We asked a few friends who we thought would really get into this endurance run of films, and surprisingly many said "sure!"  Graciously, our friends John & Stacey, who have a 90-inch projection TV setup and great seating, offered to host the event.

Throw in some food, ice cream cake, and plenty of snacks, and we were all set!

The Back to the Future films have recently been released on Blu-ray, and the improved resolution sure does bring out a lot of details you may have missed in previous viewings.

I found myself finding product placement mentions for Pepsi that I had never seen before.  Hmmm, could this be a possible BevReview.com post in the future?

Well, of course we played up the theme!

Overall, it was a fun time.  Thanks to my wife and everyone who was involved or attended to help make it a special celebration for me!?
