Culinary Christmas - December 4: Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Featured Foods: Corn for popping

Want some popcorn? Then Rosemary Clooney has some for you with her rendition of Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!!

You can tell she recorded this later in her career because her voice is much lower, there's a trademark "waver" in her voice, and she references her age in a modified set of lyrics:

When we finally say 'bon nuit'
How I'll hate going out in the sleet
But if you really care for me
Come on-a my house and warm up my feet!

Oh the fire burned down to embers
But at our age – who remembers?
But as long as you love me so
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

It sort of reminds me of her audio commentary track on the movie White Christmas. At the time she recorded it, she was the only remaining lead cast member still alive. It's a useless commentary, because it pretty much has her laughing and saying things like "Oh, Bing was so funny here!" I swear she must have been drunk during the recording. Nevertheless, it's funny!

It's fitting that we're playing this song today as Chicago is recording its first notable snowfall of the season. Now where did I stick that shovel?
