The Disney Experience should start the minute you pull into that parking lot. The buses should be themed not look like a prop from Speed. The CTA buses are more interesting than this.

When we visited in June 2010 we tried using the buses and it ended up taking us over 45 minutes to get from our resort to Hollywood Studios. After that experience we decided it was quicker (or at least seemed that way) to just take the rental car. On our last trip in Jan. 2011 we decided to fly down and use Disney transportation exclusively. We found ourselves on buses and boats and monorails. I don't know if it was because we went at a less busier time of the year or that the heat was a less intense, but the bus rides weren't as bad. It also could have been because it was our third trip and we weren't in commando-mode trying to get every possible ride and attraction in before going home. While you can do all Disney has to offer without a car-it certainly gives you a little more flexibility and you can save time (if you know where you're going).
